If You Don’t Shoot HD Now, You’ll Hate Yourself Later!

Seriously, what’s the point of shooting videos of your kids today if when you watch the footage a few years down the road it looks like garbage? My son is 4 years old. Home videos from when he was around nine months are dark, grainy, and lack detail. That was only 3 years ago! Don’t let this happen to you. Upgrade to an HD camera now and you will enjoy sharp footage of your bambinos for years and years. Here is a freeze frame from when my son was a baby:

The good news: there are some great consumer and prosumer HD cameras markets on the market right now. My #1 recommendation: Panasonic’s HVX-200. This is a professional level HD camera. I will say that it’s a bit expensive, but it’s worth every penny. The video is simply stunning. The downside: it’s bulky and weighs a ton.
Here is a freeze frame from the HVX200:

Here’s some footage Mr. Clean shot from the train using the HVX.
If the HVX’s price isn’t right for you, there’s Panasonic’s AG-HSC1U. The HSC1U is a small handheld HD camera. It takes great video and the price is only $2000. The only thing I don’t like about this camera is that it doesn’t have a viewfinder. I get the best footage of my kids when I flip the screen around so they can see themselves while I look through the viewfinder. This won’t be possible with the HSC. However, you are still getting a lot of bang for your buck, so don’t DQ this camera on a technicality.
